Girl Scout Snowshoe Hike - Picnic Lake - Feb. 26th
The Chippewa Moraine Chapter co-sponsored a snowshoe hike with the Girl Scouts in NW Wisconsin at Camp Nawakwa on February 26th. Chapter volunteers came in the morning to cut trail around Picnic Lake for about one and a quarter miles. At 1:00, we led a snowshoe hike around Picnic Lake with the scouts. Scheels in Eau Claire donated snowshoes to Camp Nawakwa for the girls to use. When future troops come to Camp Nawakwa for a winter camp or hike, the snowshoes will be available to them. 25 scouts and adults attended the event. It was a beautiful day for a hike, with warm temps and blues skies. The girls had a great time. This was a great way to get young people on the Ice Age Trail, and we look forward to partnering with the Girl Scouts in the future. Thank you to JoAnn Parks, Pat Kosher, Barb Leetzow, Chris Maslonkowski, Barb Flom, Sherry Jasper, and Carrie Andringa for volunteering on this hike.
March Chapter Meeting via Zoom - March 21
The Chippewa Moraine Chapter will hold its March Chapter Meeting on March 21st at 6:30 via Zoom. Hopefully our next meeting will be in person. If you plan to attend the meeting, please contact Vicki Christianson at chippewamorainechapter@iceagetrail.org and I will send you the link for the meeting. Hope to see you there.
We Need a Name for Our Chapter Hiking Patch
Patch Name Suggestions (so far):
1. Hike the High Hummocks
2. Ice-Walled Lake Plainers
3. Hike the Ice-Walled Lake Plain
4. Obey the Obey (oh-Bay the OH-bee)
Our committee has been meeting to plan for a hiking patch for the Chippewa Moraine Chapter. In February, we met to plan out the brochure for the patch program. If you have an idea for a patch name, send your suggestion to Vicki Christianson at chippewamorainechapter@iceagetrail.org by March 15th. We will vote on the Patch Name at the March Chapter Meeting.
