Monday’s “Spring Fever” Chapter Meeting is Cancelled
With all that is happening in the world, we looked at our agenda for our regular chapter meeting and have decided it is not necessary for us to meet in person in March. Enjoy your evening off, and if it is pleasant, go for a walk in the woods instead.
We’ll still have opportunities to get together, in the healthier surroundings of the trail itself. We’ll count on you more than ever to pay attention to these messages, and step up for our trail cleanup on April 18 — see the registration announcement below.
Our next chapter meeting will be May 18, and we will welcome special guest Dan Watson of the National Park Service.
In the meantime, take care of yourself, and enjoy your walk in the woods.

Spring Trail Cleanup - Saturday, April 18
With the snow peeled back to reveal the extent of winter’s toll on the trail, we’ll gather on Saturday, April 18 at the Deer Fly Trail trailhead to clean up the winter’s downed trees and branches on the trail. This is important to get the trail in shape for the ultramarathon the following weekend, as well as discover and repair any damage to trail or structures that may be hazards to runners and hikers alike. The work isn’t hard, but because of the distance we hope to cover, it is always helpful to have a good turnout.
If you can join the fun, please register.
If you want to help plan the cleanup, contact Tony Schuster.

2020 Trail Calendar
Our annual chapter trail calendar postcard was mailed to IATA members in February, but one one late item didn’t make the calendar: Ice Age Trail University, or IATU. The dates have been set, Thursday through Sunday, July 30-Aug 2, and the training will be held nearby in Taylor County. Event information has not been posted yet, but you can check here on the MSC event page to see when it is available.
There are extensive re-training and re-certification requirements for chain saw operators, and this will only be offered at the IATU, so if you wish to maintain your certification, mark these dates on your calendar now and be sure to register early.
If you want a digital version of the updated chapter calendar, download it here.
Newsletters and information are also available at the chapter web site: http://www.iatchippewa.org. You can also go here to View Online.
