Chapter Meeting & Potluck Supper, Monday July 17
Plan to spend a sweet summer evening at our chapter’s annual potluck supper and chapter meeting at the Obey Interpretive Center on Monday, July 17, beginning at 6 PM. Bring along something to share for supper, your own plates and utensils, and your own beverage. Brats and buns will be provided!
After supper we’ll do a quick roundup of chapter news and activities and any items needing attention. Good food, good conversation with friends, and the show-stopping view of South Shattuck Lake nestled in the Chippewa Moraine forest on a warm summer evening: priceless!

Sunday Hike Resumes, Sunday August 6
Our next Sunday Hike will occur on Sunday, August 6. Meet at the Chippewa Moraine’s Obey Interpretive Center at 1 PM and we’ll select a route suitable to all. It’s usually a 3 hour hike on a section of trail that may be new to you, or a return visit to an old friend. We’ll take time to stop and check out whatever berries, flowers, or critters grace our path. It’s a great hike for those new to the trail or old hands. Bring a hiking friend and introduce your friend to the trail this day.

Chippewa Moraine Master Plan
The Draft Master Plan for the Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area has been released. You can download it here. The draft directs some very controversial changes to the facility and programs at the park.
Although the formal comment period has closed, the DNR planner said she would welcome comments at any time. So if you intended to send in a comment but time got away from you, you might still consider sending in your thoughts to the addresses shown on the planning page.
A final draft will be released later, and will be considered at the Natural Resources Board meeting on September 26-27 in Minocqua. You can view meeting schedules, agendas, and materials, and submit comments at the NRB web site.
