Bridges Of Chippewa County, Part II, at September Workday This Saturday, Sept. 10
A boardwalk and bridge in need of repairs is the featured attraction at the September Trail Improvement Day. If making serious repairs to a boardwalk/bridge combo is your cup of tea, plan to join us on Saturday, September 10. If it is not, fear not as we have other trail improvement projects as well. Hint: loppers may be the tool of choice.
Meet at the Obey Interpretive Center at the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Reserve near New Auburn at 9 AM, and we’ll head out to our work location. Wear long sleeves and pants, sturdy work shoes, be prepared for mosquitos, and bring work gloves, water, lunch, and a snack. Power drills and waterproof boots would also be useful on the boardwalk project.

September Chapter Meeting To Review Annual Activities & Events, Monday Sept. 19
Join Chippewa Moraine Chapter members at our September meeting to finalize plans for fall events and projects. If you have ideas of how to improve the Parade of Colors or other activities, as well as any other ideas, this is the place to be, as we will review our activities and events of the past year and begin making some decisions about what to pursue in 2017. We’ll also report on the Library IAT Guides project, and approve funding to complete it.
The meeting is from 6:30 PM to 8 on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Chippewa Falls Public Library, large meeting room.
Can You Hear The Sound Of The Parade of Colors?
Don’t miss the 2017 edition of our annual Parade of Colors Fall Hike on the Ice Age Trail. This year’s event occurs on Saturday, October 1, at the Obey Interpretive Center at the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Unit, near New Auburn.
Whether you come to help out, or come to enjoy the hike, come and enjoy the trail at its colorful best.
If you wish to volunteer, we have roles for drivers, bakers, greeters, and other tasks. Please contact the chapter with your interest.
If you want to enjoy the finest hiking opportunity anywhere, bring friends and family and plan to arrive between 9 and 11 AM at the Obey Interpretive Center. Chapter volunteers will shuttle you to the starting point of your hike, chosen based on your desired distance (between 1 and 6 miles). Refreshments will greet you upon your return to the Obey Center. Afterwards, enjoy the activities and exhibits at the Obey Center, or enjoy one of the other trails that converge on the Center.
There is no charge for the event, though donations are always welcomed.

Trailbuilding Event Set for Polk County (Straight Lake) Sept. 14-18
A signature section of the trail built in MSC events between 2009 and 2011 is being revisited to make some boardwalk upgrades, tread construction, and chainsaw work. The event runs from Sept. 14-18 and you can attend all or part of the time. For more information and to register, go here.
