Ice Age Trail UPDATE

Parade of Colors, October 6, 2012

The color scheme is changing but there's still plenty of color to see at this year's Parade of Colors Fall Hike on the Ice Age Trail. It's all waiting for you at the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Reserve near New Auburn this Saturday morning.

Plan to arrive at the Interpretive Center any time between 9 and 11 to register and begin your hike. This is not a large group hike, but emphasizes small groups of old and new friends. When you register between 9 and 11, we custom design a hike for you based on the distance you wish to walk. Then we shuttle you out to your starting point, and you walk back to the Interpretive Center at your own pace, taking time to stop and take a picture or chase a frog if you wish.

We'll set you off with a packet of trail mix, but bring your own water bottle and good walking shoes. When you return, there will be cookies and other treats to welcome you. If you want to stay longer, there are more trails you can explore from the Interpretive Center, or you can enjoy the exhibits inside (or get the kids going on a scavenger hunt).

The warmer weather may have passed for now, but don't let the cool weather predicted for Saturday morning deter you. You may find it more to your liking for a fall morning hike in the woods.
