Sunday Hike Resumes August 7

Construct A Boardwalk on August 20 Work Day

Sunday Hike Resumes on August 7

Our popular Sunday Hikes will resume with a hike on Sunday, August 7. Meet at 1 PM at the Chippewa Moraine Visitor Center and plan for a warm hike along the trail, followed by an optional stop for pizza and cool refreshment at a charming area lakeside resort.

Join us to see what interesting surprises are in store following this summer's generous rainfall. Already an interesting array of mushrooms are making their appearance, and young frogs and toads are abundant. It's never the same hike! We'll hike about 4 miles this month. There's a good chance there will be mosquitoes, but the flies are in retreat.

Construct a Boardwalk on August 20 Work Day

The rain has been good to the vegetation and water levels this season, but in one spot the beavers have chosen to inundate the trail. As one of our members likes to say, you can't defeat a beaver, so we'll just deal with this guy by raising the trail onto a boardwalk that we will construct at our August 20 work day. With enough help, we can tackle some trail cleanup as well.

We'll meet at 9:30 AM at the Chippewa Moraine Visitor Center. Bring lunch, water, and your favorite mosquito strategy. As with all workdays, please RSVP your intentions regarding participation and whether you're coming for a full or half day. If you have a power drill, bring it along as well. Please RSVP via email to chapter@iatchippewa.org.

Thanks For Being a Member of IATA

Your regular membership renewals continue to be the backbone of the Ice Age Trail Alliance, and we very much appreciate that among all the organizations that pester you for membership renewals, you continue to honor the IATA with your membership renewal. Your membership contribution and participation are enabling the Ice Age Trail to move toward connecting the trail segments as well as taking care of those already built.

If you are not yet a member, or your membership has been overlooked and allowed to lapse, please consider making a membership contribution this year. It really does matter.

Thank you.
