First Sunday Hike – Sunday, April 5
Come on along on Sunday afternoon, April 5, for our first "First Sunday" hike of the year. It's been soggy, dreary, cold, etc. for awhile, but Sunday will be a great afternoon for a hike.
Meet at 1 PM at the Chippewa Moraine Visitor Center. Bring along a snack and water. Any bugs we see will probably be a treat at this time of year! Parts of the trail may be soft or even wet, so bring appropriate footwear.
The water birds and spring birds have been showing up on the small lakes and in the trees, so there could be some interesting things to see. The wood frogs may be ready to sing by Sunday as well.
This is a great time of year to see our world-famous glacial topography "unencumbered by vegetation", so plan to join us for this early spring amble on the Ice Age Trail.
Annual Member Meeting is in nearby Merrill this year!
The Annual Member Meeting will take place in Merrill at the Smith Center on the east side of town, on Saturday, April 25, at 8:30 AM. Even if you aren't planning on attending the whole Annual Conference, you are entitled and welcome to attend the Annual Member Meeting. Come to listen, take part in, and vote on the proposal to change the Foundation's name to Ice Age Trail Alliance, as well as other bylaw amendments and directors.
Read in your Mammoth Tales about the pros and cons of the proposed new name for our organization.
Vote on New Name, Bylaws, & Directors by Proxy
Foundation members received a mailing recently which included the notice of the Annual Member Meeting, the Bylaw changes proposed, and the list of Directors to be voted on. If you approve of all the changes and directors, please sign and return the form. If you object to one or more items, identify above your signature the proposals you wish your vote to be cast against. If you wish to designate a different person to vote on your behalf, change the name of the person appointed and send the form to the IAPTF office (you should also provide a copy of the form with your instructions to the person you designate). (Note that family memberships are granted one vote for the family.)
Outdoor Expo – Sunday, April 26
There's still room for another person to go to Minneapolis on Sunday, April 26 for the Outdoor Expo. You'll get to staff the booth and answer questions about the Ice Age Trail. It's fun! If you’re interested, contact Richard (chapter@iatchippewa.org or 715 967-2164).
May "First Sunday" Hike: Meet at Hwy CC
As you mark your calendar for the First Sunday hike in May, on Sunday May 3, please note that the meeting location will be at the Hwy CC trailhead parking lot, about a mile north of Hwy 64.
