CPR Refresher Training
Keeping certified in first aid, CPR, and chain saw safety is a constantly moving target. So, we've set up an opportunity for you to refresh your CPR training. Last April's graduates will bring their CPR skills up to speed at a training class on Saturday, March 6 in Chippewa Falls. The refresher class is open to others as well who may have picked up their full CPR certification elsewhere within the past two years. The Alliance will pick up the cost. The time is 10 AM to 12:30 PM, at the City Hall.
If you are eligible and want to join the class, please reply by email or phone as soon as possible. We've got to confirm our attendees by next Wednesday. Just send an email, or call 715 967-2164. Please respond promptly so we can get the names in on time.
Wilderness First Aid
While setting up the CPR class, we learned of a unique Wilderness First Aid training opportunity that is being offered by the Red Cross in Chippewa Falls, beginning next week. The class runs four or five sessions over the next two weeks, from 5 PM to 9 PM. The first session is a full CPR class, which could be omitted if you are already certified and taking the refresher class on Saturday. The full information is here. We can't promise the IATA will pick up the tab for this one ($95 including the CPR), but it sure sounds worth it for those spending time in remote locations (not to mention being a very reasonable price).
Because the class starts next Tuesday, you need to commit to the class by this Friday. There are currently a few openings, and it would be great for some of our members to have this training. Please call or email ASAP.
Snowshoeing By Moonlight
Your last chance this year to take in the popular moonlight snowshoe hikes at the Chippewa Moraine Visitor Center is this Saturday, Feb. 27. An introductory program begins at 6:30 PM and the hike follows at 7. Snowshoes are available at the center, but you need to reserve them ahead by calling 715 967-2800. The hike takes place regardless of the weather, led by reserve naturalist Rod Gont.
